I’ve been stymied as to where to hang my vintage family portraits. I love them and wanted them in the house I just couldn’t decide where to hang them or how to arrange them. My grandmother had given me some new photos so the collection was larger than at my last place. Tonight I bit the bullet and hung them, eyeballed it for the most part. I like it. Will it be the final arrangement, probably not but for now it’s good, and it really changes the living room…more than I expected but in a good way.
This was the first weekend since we moved that I didn’t work on a project (or have company or both). Instead, I cleaned and tried to give time to both my and Charlie’s interests. Sadly, the cleaning/ organizing took lots of time and there is still so much more of it…as I suppose there always will be. I did have some friends over for my first brunch at the house, that was fun….it seems this weekend was a sort of milestone, while there will always be projects nothing was so pressing it came at the expense of a “normal” weekend.
In this room, the floors were resanded, molding and chair rail added, ceiling fan and paint. The chalk board paint was a fun addition. I have yet to replace the window, but other than that Charlie’s room is pretty set. It took awhile to get these pics since Charlie’s room has been a mess, but today I bit the bullet and sorted and organized toys and generally got the room cleaned up.
The bed was in his old room as was the bookcase and rugs. The dresser/changing table was my desk at the old place and his toy chest is new.
The patio trees I ordered arrived today. They were ordered on Saturday, so that was nice and fast. I got them planted this evening after I put Charlie to bed. So now the front patio is completely planted. Now all I need is some patio furniture for out there. I’m happy with how it came together. And it was a good reminder how quickly garden stuff can get expensive. Even with my Craigslist pots and Home Depot gift cards I still spent $200 on trees and the pots while a total steal were still $300….so it adds up quickly. Looking forward to those free trees from the city for my next outdoor project.
It is ridiculous to think about painting a room when I have so much that needs to be done but….. I just read the Apartment Therapy post about black rooms and think it may be fun to paint the guestroom black…it is the least together room decor wise and it could be fun. Not that I’ll get to it any time soon, but it could be fun.
My kitchen chairs were supposed to ship Feb 11th, I ordered them in early OCTOBER! This is getting ridiculous, the company says they are held up in customs, but come on already…this is silly. So frustrating.
I did get the guest room rug done, finally and that felt good. Next up is getting the rest of the art hung. I am hoping to do that this week and then finally get our alarm system installed. We shall see. I also really want to sort out my office boxes and get organized, but at least it is behind closet doors.
Edwin et al seem to have disappeared again. Not much left to do but still I want it done. Paint touch ups, a couple more lights in the kitchen and then the patio and water spigot on the top level of the yard. So no real rush, but would like to just wrap it up.
I ordered a composter and am ready to start composting! Very exciting!! Just need to pllace the composter on a flat surface for easier aerating…..
Seems like I am getting close, and of course now I see all the work that needs to happen in the yard….I’m sure it will be never ending…..
