This house has its share of scary halloween critters. Of late, killed two black widow spiders, Edwin the contractor, killed a tarantula and last night there was a coyote in the front yard! I’m sure if my son sees the coyote he’ll think its a werewolf. Forgive me for not have photos but i wanted those spiders dead ASAP! So we do indeed have our share of halloween frights. Happy Halloween!
The driveway, behind the garage -yes one can drive right through my garage- has been barren dirt since we moved in. It was indeed unappealing, but I really didn’t pay it too much attention. I just averted my eyes as I came to and fro. But then when the new window went into Charlie’s room there was suddenly a view to this barren and desolate eyesore. That’s when I knew I had to do something. So after a cocktail or two one night, I used a coupon and ordered some Wax Myrtle trees from an online site. They arrived looking pretty good. Next up was getting the gardener to augment the abysmal soil. Hopefully the new dirt, regular watering and fertilizing will be enough to get these shrubs growing the 5ft/yr. they promise. If that really happens they will be 10ft tall and a great privacy screen by the time Charlie starts kindergarten! Here’s hoping….

If you haven’t been here, this all may seem a bit odd or even silly. The two doors to the kitchen were not aligned. The door from dining room to kitchen and kitchen to hall were across from each other but about 9 inches off from each other. One was 9 inches closer to the washer dryer wall than the other. It actually made a lot of things feel sorta off and provided a view of the bathroom that wasn’t necessary. So Edwin to the rescue, one door was moved 9 inches and both were arched to match the Spanish style of the house. It really makes a surprisingly large improvement to the kitchen. Obviously, there is still a kitchen remodel in my future but this is one more thing that helps until I get to the big stuff.
Finally, the new lights for the front gate arrived. I like them. Still a few more little tweaks to get the front of the house where I want it, but it’s getting close. Or as close as it can get until I tackle landscaping issues…..but for the near term future it is mostly done. Hopefully the last few things will be done this week, hopefully.
