Finally, finally there is grass and mulch in the top level of the yard. It looks SO much better than it ever has. I wish there were photos that showed how bad it was, but It seems, for some reason I didn’t take many. Well, the worst part all the hundreds of prickers in Bernie’s fur and in various kids’ feet couldn’t have been seen in a photo any way. Still need to put the blue pots on the patio and get some plants for them, but it’s pretty much done. And the sprinklers on the middle section were fixed so they aren’t in holes about 6″ lower than the rest of the yard. All in all much improved.
Now I just have to hope the grass settles in well. I would really like to plant some bamboo along the back wall before the end of the year but it may need to wait. So here is the much better for now backyard.
The side of the house was pretty much nothing much to talk about, and largely forgotten. Well that has changed with a bit of landscaping and some love. Of course, the hideous chain link fence was replaced as well. The water heater is also on the side of the house and it lived in a rusted old tin shack of a box that was suited for where Dexter would have hid his kill tools in a swamp. Needless to say I was eager to see it go. Well finally, it has a new home! It’s an expanded wood cabinet to match the fence. It also has some shelves for storage of outdoor toys. The before picture is from when the house was having some foundation work done, but it’s one of the only photos I have of the side of the house.
I am really happy with how the front patio came out. I want to change a couple of plants and then it will be perfect! But for the most part, it is done and fabulous. Next up out front will be the parkway and then the front of the house will be done, done, done! But I digress, I wanted to post some before and after photos of the patio….so here they are… I will also add it is surprisingly hard to take photos that are the same, but you can at leat get the idea
The front patio is finally done and I love it, especially the stairs. It’s just what I’ve wanted since I moved in. I gave a little Spanish style back to the house and I think it will thank me for it. The insurance even covered the cement work part of the project for which I am grateful. Now I have a patio that is an appropriate entry to the house and will be a nice place to hang out.
